Mental Health
People in the UK are increasingly being affected by mental ill health, with 1 in 4 people estimated to experience mental health problems each year.
The Covid19 pandemic led to a significant decline in wellbeing: in March 2021, 21% of adults reported experiencing moderate to severe depression, and while this figure has since decreased, ongoing socioeconomic challenges such as the rising cost of living continue to impact mental health and happiness.
At Education for Health, we recognise that these challenges can be felt even more intensely by individuals who also have long-term physical health conditions. With waiting times for talking therapies and specialist mental health services across the country ranging from weeks to months or even years, it has never been more important for healthcare professionals working in primary care to be equipped to support patients with, or at risk of, mental ill health.
2025 therefore marks the launch of our new mental health courses, which have been co-designed by expert clinicians to specifically meet the needs of the primary and community care workforce. Whether you already have experience of supporting mental health patients and want to increase your knowledge and skills, or you are new to practice and are looking to build your confidence, our interactive courses will help you to understand the interplay between mental health and physical health conditions, and how you can best support patients within your role.
